What order would you put them in?

I reckon:

1 Best
2 Pele
3 Cantona
4 Maradona

You say that I must be on drugs if I think that Cantona was better than Maradona?
I'm not on drugs mate, but Maradona certainly was!

Lol!

I think

1) Pele almost scored a goal a game. Played around 1400 games and scored around 1350 goals. Unreal.

2) Best. If he played for a bigger nation (no disrespect meant) then more people would be comparing him to Pele.

3) Cantona. He was what football was missing in the 90's. Arrogant, talented and the ability to turn a game in an instant. He did well retiring when he did as he left fans remembering his best, not disappearing down the leagues.

4) Maradona - why even put this guy on the list. A renowned coke head. I have no respect for him so consider all his achievements void. He had my respect until USA 94, but when the drugs test came back, all respect was gone. They strip you of world titles in athletics for cheating, they should strip you of your honours in football too.

The best was Maradona. The english are just pissed that he destroyed England on his own but you have to face the facts: Maradona has already been chosen as the best player of all time when he won the FIFA contest for best player ever and received three times more votes than Pelé did (53% for Maradona, 18% for Pelé). Best didn't even receive 0,5% of the votes and Cantona didn't even make it into the top 20 best players of all time. And that vote was an international vote so it gives you an idea of what football fans around the globe really think.

Cantona himself has already said that Maradona was the best player of all time, and you place him and George Best as better than the argentinian? You must be from Manchester to be talking such nonsense!

There's Maradona first, then there's Pelé. And then there's the rest of them.

If you don't like the truth, don't ask the question!
So long.

It must be Pele top. At 17 years old international of class for many years.
Then Maradona despite drugs you cant help be amazed at his skill. Best third. Again a class player but he did not perform on the world strange so much, and he was out of it too early. Cantona a good player but when you compare to the others he must come last of a gifted quartet.

Where's Waldo (Eric Wynalda), just kidding! I'm really not qualified since I never watched Best or Cantona. I would take Pele over Maradona by a close margin.

Pele was the best for me without question. (Assume we are only talking strikers here). Best was brilliant on his day. Unfortunately that was about 10% of the time. The rest of the time he wouldn't get into a Sunday League team. Maradona was a fat little cheat who spent more time falling over than he did playing. Cantona? Hmmm!

Of those four, only Pele would get in my top 10 all time forwards.

They are all in different periods of soccer. You can't compare a player from one period to another. One might be so much better than the other.
Maradona is called the god of soccer but made very stupid decisions
Pele is called the king of soccer
Best and Cantona weren't as famous but they were individual talents as well.

I agree with you George best was a human living legend A football god Pele definately follows him but shouldn't be mis underestimated he only just creeps in behind George.
(Shame he became an alcoholic)

Cantona was awesome (sadly let his country down in the crucial time though by that head butt)
As for maradonna well Im English and cant forgive that cheating hand ball in the world cup when his blatant hand ball (hand of god) goal was allowed and because of that .England was knocked out of the running for the finals Now he's a washed up coke head..
