Yes I have heard. It is an often asked question and they all ask the same 'do you believe?'.

The question is asked this way since not a single shred of evidence exists to suggest that Nibiru is anything but Sumerian mythology manipulated by the work of fiction writers hoping to make some money off of a gullable uneducated public.

I wasn't going to answer since this question has been asked 115 times before, but I couldn't help responding to some outlandish comments made by paganrider.

-you say that you have 'read up' on Nibiru. As there are no regulations stipulating that anything printed on the internet needs to be true nor have any heading stating whether the information is true, fiction, opinion, undocumented claims, obtained from psychic/channelling sources, etc. I am wondering what scientific books from the library you have read suggesting Nibiru is real?

-If you HAD in fact read up on Nibiru as you claim, you would realize that these fanciful ideas are the work of Zecharia Sitchin. Sitchin took a view of the Sumerian texts in a similar way that VonDaniken viewed all things that he could not explain or understand in the ancient world as the works of aliens.

- Let's investigate the author of all of your beliefs Sitchin:

His speculations are largely ignored by mainstream scientists and historians who see many problems with both his translations and understanding of physics.

When Sitchin researched his books, only specialists could read the Sumerian language, but now anyone can check his translations in the frequently contested Sumerian Lexicon. Sitchin's translations have been heavily challenged under this linguistic scrutiny.

-let's take a look at your web url sources. The first two have been removed from the internet (hmmm curious). The third presents absolutely NO, let me repeat that, NO evidence whatsoever that 1) Nibiru exists and 2) That Nostradamus made any quatrains speaking of EITHER Nibiru or the date 2012.

-this is what your third website says. I challenge you to find ANYTHING factual refering to Nibiru or 2012--- "Planet X Nibiru, if really exists and approaching, can be a big threat to the earth and its people. Michel de Nostredame predicted some kind of huge space collision that will occur around year 2000. Will the comet or asteroid really fall in the aegean sea (Greece) and huge tsunami will hit the mount Olympus (2917 metres high)."

-I notice that your website fails to give the name of the webpage author. Why do you think this is so?

-The Sumerians did not believe in 12 planets. If you actually took some time to research things before you add them into your mystical concept of life, you would know that two of these included the Sun and Moon.

-The Mayans NEVER spoke of Nibiru or polar shifts.

-It's another revealing of your immature knowledge to even use the term shift as shifts occur all of the time. If you mean reversal, then it is another example of your gullability without conducting any research into the science of pole reversals. Despite the psuedowebsite claims that you seem so eager to blindly accept, a pole reversal will not happen until 3500-4000AD AT THE VERY EARLIEST. And this date is only figured if the poles continue weakening at their current rate which is very unlikely.

-Nostradamus does not predict a pole reversal either.

-Research the claims that Nostradamus predicted the end of the world for 1999.

-Research the claims of Mark Hazelwood that Nibiru would be here in the Spring of 2003.

-How can you make claims that Nibiru has had 'many fly-bys before' without presenting any evidence?

-You say that it passed by 3600 years ago? Where is your evidence? Writing methods and papyrus plainly existed 3600 years ago. Why is it that NONE of these writings say anything about NIbiru? Did they get so caught up in the 'global climate change' that they forgot to write about it?

-Where is your evidence for a global climate change 3600 years ago?

-'APPARANTLY' you can see it from Earth? Where are the telescopic pictures? Is this another NASA coverup???

-Where are you getting your information from that '100yrs ago when the earth was certainly flat and earth was most definately the centre of the universe' ? Such a statement displays your lack of an even elementary grasp of history.

-my suggestions to you-

1) Don't believe that something is true just because you saw it on the internet.
2) Research something before you accept the claims. This does not mean to go website hopping, it means take a trip to the library.
3) Don't repeat things that you have not scientifically verified on the internet like it's some new gossip.
4) When you do go onto a website, consider that the information may be fiction. Find the name of the webpage author. Research the author's credentials. Does the author have an educational background in the subject or is the author of the webpage simply an author of books that he is trying to peddle. (Let us keep in mind that Sitchin is an author. His primary goal is to sell books.)
5) Don't believe in things that haven't a shred of evidence just to make your life seem more mysterious and exciting.
6) Exercise, develop, and display common sense. Especially when it comes to things you are building your beliefs upon.

In so far as it is an old name for Jupiter, it exists.

Otherwise it and the stories around it are a set of stories dreamed up by a small group of frauds and fools in the USA. This is based around a woman called Nancy Lieder who claims to be in mental contact with beings calling themselves Zetans. (Why do so many of these aliens or spirit beings name themselves after old Greek letters?)

Niburu was supposed to have caused damage to the Earth in 2003 but somehow that failed, so the frauds and fools added their rubbish legend to the nonsense surrounding the Mayan calendar. Now it is supposed to damage the earth somehow in 2012.

Any planet big enough to cause this would have had to entered the inner solar system by now to do this and it would have been detected. Hasn't been detected. Why? Probably because it does not exist.

The USA almost always has one group or other predicting the end of the world in the near future. This seems to be a characteristic of US culture and has been for at least 150 years.

Almost any lunatic fringe group can get some promotion because the TV and radio programmers are desperate for something to fill their broadcast time. So they will broadcast anything that is not actively obscene.

I have read that at least some members of the Nancy Lieder group have decided that she was full of it and and have abandoned the group. Apparently these people have come to their senses, at least to a certain extent.

Since i heard about the planet nibiru i have done nothing but read up on it.
The sumerians were an ancient race who knew the solar system has 12 planets, they were a lot smarter than us.
http://www.subversiveelement.com/Sumeria...
http://www.geocities.com/engvaj/Sumerian...
The mayan calender ends on this date as it is the date niburu passes the earth and the polar shifts will occur.
And nostradamus also predicted this:
http://nostradamus2012.com/
The earth has survived many fly-bys before as the planet nibiru passes this way every 3600 years, and causes global climate changes, its said it has already began as it is already entered our system. Apparantly you can already see it from the most southern point on earth and we will all be able to see from 2009 with the naked eye.
people who scoff at it are much like those a 100yrs ago when the earth was certainly flat and earth was most definately the centre of the universe
We can survive polar shifts, we have before and we will in the future, Im not trying to scare anyone its not the end of the world just the end of the world as we know it.

yes
no

It started with early translations of Sumerian texts which included their version of Genesis: human life on Earth began when a planet (or god, same thing) approached Earth and created humans as slave workers to mine gold for it.

Modern (more accurate, we hope) translations allow to think that the word Nibiru, when applied to a planet, would be Jupiter.

After the original translation, the author of the translation forecast that the planet would return near Earth around 2080.

Others have played around with the orbital parameters of this fictional planet to make it return in 2012, coinciding with other hoaxes about the end of the world.

Planet Nibiru does exist: it is Jupiter.

The fictitious planet that would return to see if we continued our work as slaves for gold-hungry gods does not exist.

NIBIRU(Planet X) is the twelve planet in the solarsystem which might really exist (who knows the universe is big). There is a possibility (if it exist) when it orbits near the sun it might get near the astroid belt (a cluster of rocks between mars and jupiter) and crash into some of the rocks and hurtel them at Earth. this is a theory but it might be true. REMEMBER anything is possible

Unfortunately, I have heard of it countless times. It is not a matter of belief. It simply does not exist. It could not exist and it does not exist. Please, please, read and learn and work until you can understand why it cannot exist.
