He's the last person I have to get for now and he's really difficult to buy for. He's quite musical and enjoys a drink of whiskey most days, but he's fully stocked at the moment from past Christmas' and birthdays and he's stocked to the nines with Sinatra (and Rat pack) CD's and DVD's, so that's out of the question too.

He used to work on the railways so I'm wondering if I could get him something to do with that or perhaps something else to do with his musical interests (as he enjoys singing), but I'm truly stuck. Any help would be really appreciated!

A Train Set perhaps or a couple of Frank Sinatra Movies.
Guys and Dolls (1955) or the Original Oceans Elleven.
These Movies are really easy to get hold of. Just go down to your local supermarket or Music Store

They have these wooden train whistles but they are only about $2. They totally sound like a train. You could use that as the bow on his gift.

This is silly but grandpa's can be. Get him reindeer ears that stick out the windows and a big nose for the grill to dress up his car at Christmas.

Get him a wooden train or start him on a collection of Thomas the train or something like that.

This is silly but it is probably from his generation. Give him a a comb and wax paper so that he can play a song on it. I am sure he did this as a kid.

tickets to a concert

Take him to a movie and spend time with him.

A date night out to a high school musical with your grandfather. Giving of your time is the least expensive gift yet the hardest to come by. Take him out to dinner and a high school play or musical and get to really know him before you wish you had.

I'm buying my favorite "grandfather" several "tickets" to the local indoor swimming pool. A ticket is good for 12 swims.

If you do not have a pool available, get him a trial membership in the local gym.

You might also offer to go with him.
