Teeth are important....so is a heart and liver....there are options. At ALL costs? No. I was faced with that...shelled out thousands and thousands and thousands to keep them....bad genes, not lack of hygiene.....anyway it was children or me? Food or me? Utilities or me? The needs of the many sometimes outweigh the vanity of 1. You can gum food...say no to others. There's always a blender......I wish I wasn't forced to choose....but I was. It's not like someone signs up for it, or grows up just waiting for the time to get dentures.......it's something people have to deal with and proper dental care isn't the only reason for why they loose theirs. I had more root canals and caps and fillings.....they crumbled like chalk after I had my kids. Bones started weakening. Guess the body needed the calcium and I didn't have enough even with supplements....so my teeth went to make up for it.
(not to mention certain medications cause dental decay)

My teeth are important to me, but I will not go as far as saying that I will keep them at all cost. I lost my upper teeth several years ago from various things. Lost all but seven of my lower teeth as time has gone on. I do have the upper dentures now, no problem with them.
No cosmetic dentistry for me as most people that has had that done that I know has had to go get all their teeth pulled in the end any way.

Both my husband and I have our own teeth. He is 75 and I am 72.We put this down to the care our parents took over our teeth which has made us take care, too. We visit the Dentist
every 6 mths.( 236 miles round trip ) there is a scarcity of dentists where we live.Apart from the "clean and polish" we have had a clear trip for the last 2 years.I hope that we won't
ever need cosmetic dentistry.

Teeth are very important! Especially if you want to eat! Bad teeth can also cause major health problems, like heart disease. The cost of, root canals, root scaling, crowns, dentures, implants, is not pretty. Brush and floss everyday, focus on every tooth! As far as cosmetic, it think it can do a lot for someones self esteem, but your health is most important.

I've spent a lot of money on my teeth and I really like them.
Wally is there a dental school anywhere around your town?
That's where I took my son many years ago to get braces when he needed them and I couldn't afford them. They still do that probably....you pay according to what your income is.
Also there is help at other clinics etc. Look in the phone book.

Teeth are your life. You do not want to ever get shafted having to wear dentures. Cosmetic dentistry is a bit overkill though.
Gentle, regular brushing and flossing are key.

Having a healthy mouth is more than just having attractive teeth. A healthy mouth is a healthy life. There is a direct relationship between the health of your mouth and your overall physical health.
