Is it something that is in the physical matter of the universe, the rule of cause and effect? For instance, we know that whenever oxygen and hydrogen are chemically blended together water is always the outcome, or that the presence of the Sun is the sole and certain cause of the life on earth.

Or, is destiny the will of God, the cause of all causes, whose will is preordained in form of everything. We might be free to some extent, but never out of His will.

We see that the more highly developed are the human systems the less likely it is for them to contain elements of uncertainty. In highly developed societies, for instance, people are more likely to live well-structured lives with all protocols, procedures, methods, measures and schedules of operation well implemented for them to ensure a certain degree of quality in life.

In short, is destiny the rule of a godless universe that we should investigate? Or is it the Will of God that we should seek and then faithfully accept?

It appears in above details as if I have worked my point into asking just one simple to ask question – does God exist? But this is not what I necessarily want to explore right now, I would like to know instead the reality of the concept in human mind.

As may be God has created the universe with a purpose, destined to perform a certain function, and within that purpose we are bound, free to choose from various courses of action but ending up with same natural results. There then may be more then one destinies. There may be a path above and beyond the fixed course of nature that we are physically bound to, and running alongside which the path of faith, for instance, offering us to see the world entirely differently, to check our instinctive natural urges, to make choices by sacrifice instead gain. The destiny appropriated by God for those who choose to do so, as opposed to those who choose to live by their own free will guided by material knowledge and understanding of the world.

well it depends if you ask me.

i think the best way to explain this awnser is by assuming that the universe was planned from the end and is working its way towards the start. aka backwards.
basically i think that (using Ur example) the world has been designed to end up with X amount of water and so X amount of hydrogen and X amount of oxygen is destined to become water.

Its the same for humans .
say all humans destiny ,in the end (as a race) is to all be 6 ft tall exactly * therefore X amount of 5 ft tall people must breed with X amount of 7 ft people to make X amount for 6 ft people*.

but of course in a hugely more complex and limitless way

i know its hard 2 comprehend but that seems to me to be the logical way of making a destiny.
i mean by writing the destiny and then working out what you need 2 get their.

i could explain it in maths.

i find it easier to have the awnser "5" and work out what goes into it (2+3,5*1 etc)
rather than not knowing the awnser and guessing till it fits

* i know this is wrong/stupid exapmple but u know wot i mean

A difficult question that can be asked on so many levels. For the physical body, destiny is inevitable; death and decay.

I'm kind of reading your question as is destiny affected by free will or completely predestined[presumably by a god of sorts] to our existence? There have been many views in the past, none provable without the invention of a time machine and parallel existences.

Part of the problem here is defining "God". A god of intelligence and conciousness comparible to an earthly organism I do not buy; that is too predefined by our limitations. A god of intelligent design I cannot fathom apart from the idea he could have designed the 'seed' and watched it grow. Therefore god of control of destiny I could not conceive unless he is nothing more than an equation. I imagine Einstein thought he was describable by an equation. If so, I think it would be conceived along the lines as follows:

The universe begins with a destructive event.. the big bang. An entity could be describes as cooperative building blocks in a [temporary]state of increased equilibrium. From then on all physical entities interact in cooperative and destructive manners. New entities form and older ones are destroyed. This destruction is the only thing preventing the universe once again becoming a super cooperative singularity[where time ceases to be]. When this cooperation outweighs destruction in a progressive sense the universe should accelerate into this single entity. This could be sighted as a form of Nash equilibrium. I have extended this idea to include a possible reason why particles interact and cooperate as opposed to not[I really wont go into that now, its a kind of simple mechanical vision]. It opens the question is radioactive decay for an individual particle random[in relation to its average halflife] or actually predefined and predestined. Im not an expert at quantum mechanics but I believe some of these ideas just might affect our definition of the uncertainty principal. If we could somehow effectively challenge that brick wall things may seem a little more predestined than before.

Another idea to help unravel the uncertainty principal is the concept of serial cyclic universes. This sequence of universes would continue until all the possible out comes would have been reached before the sequence would repeat[possibly in a different order]. If this was the case, then finding a universal formula would be nigh on impossible as presumably one would have to work out which version of the sequence was unfolding. I guess all chaotic patterns could be defined as oscilations within oscilations etc.

From what Ive said above, I sure youve gathered that I dont consider cultural theology and metaphysical afterlife when approaching the question of destiny. However the buddhist philosophy of singularity I believe can have scientific value. The notion that we have come from a singularity and will return there through cooperation and peace and not destruction is in my opinion the commonality all of our destinies.

(1) Water = H2O. Hydrogen peroxide = H2O2. (2) Destiny is an outdated concept, resulting from a simplistic view of the nature of reality. It is closely linked with religion. (3) If you study quantum theory, you come to the realisation that the true nature of everyday reality is based on probability. Use the Wikipedia, and Google websites: "Schrodinger's cat". (4) Early humans had no science: to them lightning, dreams, and big predators were associated with the spirit world. Later, these evolved into the god of lightning, the god of dreams, the god of the sea, the god of volcanoes, etc. Then came the concept of a single god, perpetuated to this day by those with a vested interest in maintaining the status quo, and keeping their position of power, and influence in society.

What is ordained by destiny must surely happen. The power of fate is the most dominant. Many causes may underlie success or failure of destiny-fate...perhaps not made full effort,or lacking the proper means or not given adequate thought to the undertaking-two people under identical circumstances may thus experience opposing results of success and failure.

belief of destiny is to contemplate infinite because what is your destiny, what is a belief in god and if so what did god want us to contemplate as destiny

continuing from what i left earlier (see above)
i read this and begin to wonder if your a religious person not saying there's anything wrong with that their billions of religious people and just as many religions, but what I'm trying to get at is destiny is a thought of crazy people rying to find a maybe eventuality for something if that sounds a bit crazy it probably is, another thought is you say god creates a destiny now imagine i don't know where i read it but thousands of years ago lightning was supposedly created by the god of lightning and volcanoes from the god of fire so an so on, now eventually all of these gods took one shape or form aka Christian God, Indian god, Chinese and Japanese have many strange beliefs but in all fairness these gods people belive and say are controlling these destiny singulary and socially are just powerful leaders and royatly of today, if you can get what i'm saying, maybe destinys aren't a time or event in someones life but it's more of a belief they follow that they have a purpose for a different or a singular meaning in their life which creates a thought that is their destiny.

anyway another very longwinded thought is that people believe in destiny as a protection against what beliefs could lead them too, e.g. - Powerful peoples in this world be them the super rich or leaders of great country's, these people control and ctually do and will continue to control, dominate and decieve socialized people living throughout this world, to singular ordinary people can be controlled or maybe you could call it manifested into this belief system, because of occurances that they believe are naturally occuring around them, examples are hard to come by but if enough points of someones life are controlled and decieved welll enough what are the chances of your destiny being concieved by these peoples.

i hope i made some sort of sense to all you people who read this note and maybe post something below i know it went on a bit and maybe the first time aournd but somehow it made perfect sense to me but i feel i put it in the wrong context, it seems a bit far fetched but what is destiny anyway,

destiny is a way of controlling the Majority
if every man and women has a destiny what is there to complain about Religion ( that is a joke in a sick way HAHA)

like i said leave a few notes for me to read cheers

All your observations are definitely true. I believe that all the options may be considered to investigate everything. After all, man continues to search and search for truth. Scientific investigations are continuously done and the belief in God is something that man cannot avoid to refute.

Thanks for asking. Have a great day!

Destiny is the will of God. It's our choice on which path to choose.

We create our own destinies. What we sow, we reap. If we think bad thoughts, our destinies become bad. If we want to be destined for good, we must think that way for everyone. There's nothing magical about it.
