Go with a gift card for a generic place where both sexes shop, such as Target or FYE. Get one in whatever amount is supposed to be your limit for spending and be done with it. You can't go wrong, because the person can just get what he or she actually wants or needs, and everybody likes that.

There are too many opportunities to get it wrong when you are forced to buy a gift for someone you don't even know, so make life easy on yourself and get the card. There are enough stresses during December, without worrying about imposed gift giving. You can rest assured that your gift will be appreciated.
