i hear stories of little kids peeing on santas lap, and screaming in his face, so that would suck

It wasnt in a mall-but I used to play Santa-with the whole outfit for a group of mentally handicapped children and children from less advantaged homes. We had gotten the outfit for my husband to wear, but I got it in the divorce. The first time it was suggested to me, I thought-"But I'm a lady". Not once, did any of the children question my sex. I used to get dressed up at home and drive all of the way to the one hospital by freeway. It was really funny having grown people wave to me. You put on that outfit and you're Santa. It's amazing. And-it was so much fun. If anyone peed on my lap-I dont remember it. All I do remember is a little girl named Suzi who could only talk a little. When she put her arms around my neck and said "Santa, I love you." it made me feel richer than Donald Trump. I highly recommend "playing Santa".

My friend was a Santa at a store once for a promotion and he was peed on.
So, no I never wanted to be a mall Santa or an elf.
