Mama...
Hm... that would be equivalent to mom.
I am 26 and it didn't change over the years.
It is not different, no matter who is with us, in public too.
"Mother" when I want to ask her to hurry up.
It is no acceptable to use first name, except maybe in a joke, if she has good sense of humor, as mine one has.

I wouldn't say it is cultural background, it is the way we have been raised up.
I live in South Europe.

I've always called her mom or ma....Ma is used in a more casual, joking manner it seems...while Mom is somewhat more formal. Mother gets used on occassion when I'm exasperated with her and who doesn't get exasperated by their mother every now and then?

I only call her by her first name if we're somewhere in a large crowd and she doesn't respond to Mom or Ma...

Nope, I'm 38 :)

Yes I suppose it is the cultural background......and habit :)

Until about age 12 it was 'mommy'.
After that, I started calling her by her first name, and its been that way ever since. Seems pretty normal to me. And no, it doesn't change when friends or family are around.

Mom, I probably called her mommy when I was 2. I would feel weird calling her by her first name.

Mom, normally. Mother if I'm annoyed. Mommy if I need something or a shoulder to cry on.

It was mommy until I was about 10, then it became Mom.

I never called her by her first name. I never even called her friends by their first names.... it was always Miss or Mrs.
