My mauser has a guys name under the butt cap. It's a neat piece of history!
Finding those kind of military records will be impossibly.
But you always wonder about it, just one of those things that makes militaria fun.

There have been over one hundred million mausers manufactured and they have been sold and used world wide for over a hundred years; unless the guy scratched his name on the inside of the butt plate or something your chances are slim to none, and I think slim just left town.
