My new (8 weeks old) Zanussi 1400 washing machine is broken.

Symptoms:-

When i turn it on it sounds like it is continually trying to "pump out". It makes no difference which cycle I put it on.

No numbers light up on the display.

Any ideas?

Thanks

My Zanussi came with a large orange sticker on it. Giving details of a free phone number to register for a free parts and labour guarantee.

Hope this helps.
I have a 1600 model and it always makes a 'pumping out' sound as soon as I switch it on. So it sounds like a problem with the display panel.

As it had stopped in mid cycle then you must have locked the door before the cycle started and the programme accepted this. I presume that the machine had stopped and you tried to re-start it again at the start/pause button. The information in your booklet describes a fault before the programme starts by the door not being locked. If it is clicking, it sounds like a fault with the programme. You need an engineer to have a look at it, but if it is the programme, it can be quite costly to repair.

Not many clues, but there's a possibility that the drive belt's come off.

Anyway, it should still be under a manufacturer's warranty - so don't mess with it.

I would go back to the retailer from where you bought it from and get them to sort someone out to come and look at it for you.

sounds like the control board. If it is new it should be under warranty.
