i think collingwood.
Essendon haven't got Hird anymore and Lloyd doesn't have heaps more left in him he has alternating good weeks.

Collingwood tend to win every 2nd game as well but Malthouse is a great coach and their list is really young. And you generally don't wanna mess with the collingwood crowd they're crazy!

In 2008 you'd have to guess Collingwood after very nearly knocking off Geelong to make the 'Big Dance'. Essendon looked like they recruited well but those players won't make enough difference this year to turn it around. You'd have to expect a year or two of "Post Sheedy blues" after 26 odd years. The great Jock McHale coached Collingwood for around thirty years, and his 8 flags is still the record. But the 'pies didn't win another for thirty odd years after he left - having been at Vic Park since the last time years had an "oh" in them (i.e. 19-oh-eight, etc.).

You've also gotta be a little wary of the 'pies recruiting this year... didn't have a big go at Judd, didn't trade much, feels a bit like when a poker player doesn't want any more cards!

Collingwood, they already made the 8 last season and didn't make any real wholesale changes to the list. They are settled under the coach and don't have to deal with major changes to the team plan for the season ahead.

I do think Essendon will finish higher than they finished last season but ............. wont be higher than Collingwood.

Essendon Have to get settled as a team under a new Coach get used to the new Game plans the coach brings to the club and also adapt to team changes the new Coach has made.

Definitely Collingwood. They have a very young side who now have a couple of seasons experience under their belt. I think they will be a very strong side next year! Collingwood's list is much better then Essendons and Dons haven't had the best seasons lately. Collingwood also have Mick Malthouse who is a great coach!!

I would think Collingwood, don't see Essendon doing so well with the loss of Hird and the loss of Sheedy.
I also don't see Matty Knights surviving the whole year at Windy Hill, the Essendon faithful will be whining for the return of Sheedy.
Collingwood should be OK, even without Buckley, he didn't play so much last year anyway.

Hate to go with the crowd but I will anyway Collingwood will finish higher, better list, experienced coach.

As for Collingwood winning every second game they must have won more than 11 games to get to the preliminary final this year

Collingwood, because they are a better team.

Plus Essendon are my LEAST favourite team in the AFL, hang on, second least behind Port.

Yes i will go with the crowd on this one, the woods are in better shape than the dons, simple as that.

comment above me about knights not seeing out the year, that's hogwash, if they don't do well, he has that building the side excuse they all use these days, which has merit.

the dons arn't expected to play finals really, are they? unless you support them, i would think, on the other hand collingwood are expected to play finals by all and sundry, it would be fair to say, even if you dont like them, they will more than likely play in September again, for how long who knows, time will tell.
