All kidding aside.

Realistically, we are using 19Th century technology with an updated modern boosting system to power our space program. The steam combustion engine was replaced by liquid and solid hydrogen chemical rocket propellant.

Different propulsion unit, same principle.

Because unmanned spacecrafts are overrated like our cars also why does 19th century advertising still work on us like 23 City and 33 highway, but in reality on the highway you have to drive below the posted speed limit and no more than two people and light luggage, I mean they don't have to post it so will green cars that run on batteries go the same distance at 30 & 140 mph
Anyway both are overrated

Simple. The special interests who control the energy industry make fantastic profits--$38 BILLION for Exxon/Mobile alone last year.

Allowing modern methods of enrgy production to compete in an open market means the fossil fuel industry becomes obsolete.

Or did you really think things like the nuclear power industry were halted because some environmentalists complained?

Well we used essentially 14th century technology to propel those spacecraft.
