Do they stay in various hotels in every city, or do they stay on buses? For that matter, do they get their own rooms?! I wonder.

It depends on the budget of the tour and each actor's contract. Some get their own room while some have roomies. It's usually a hotel or long term hotel (the kind that rent by the month) from what I know but I'm sure that can differ with each show as well.

Some actors prefer to stay with friends or family for a time while they're in a certain town, but in order to stay close to the venue for rehearsals and call times the hotel is the safest bet.

They stay in hotels, rented furnished apartments, bed and breakfasts lodgings.usually fairly close to the theatre they are performing in.Quite often, they share a room.Being on tour is very hectic, not a lot of time to sight-see etc. They frequent local diners, restaurants, bars close to where they are lodged.
They donot "burn the midnight oil" as you would think,The life of being "On Tour"is demanding. They must be their best for each performance.
