My in laws would not have stopped me from marrying him. I am married to him, not them. I do not take their crap. When they are being rude and ignorant I tell them about it and so does my husband. We do not see them often. Mostly just holidays and the behave then or they know that we will leave.

I knew exactly what I was getting into when I married my husband. I am white and Presbyterian... he is Hispanic and Catholic. To put it gently, his mother was on her knees begging him not to marry me (in front of me). She also showed up late for his wedding.... oh and her speech at the reception was another thing. But, I take my man for better or worse... and he is worth it.

Future in laws have nothing to do with it. The second you say "I DO" your loving relationship is over.

Depends on how close the person was to the parents and the ability to move out of state

Yes, I would. I would be as pleasant as possible to the in laws but try to avoid them whenever I could.

It is your decision......think about it...what is marriage about?what does marriage mean??? It is not about pleasing others....and it is not about pleasing you and your man.
MaRRiage has two RRs for Reason and Reciprocal. You do not have to live with them, if you have a good man in front of you.....GRAB HIM....dont be foolish, dont let anything but love stand in your way, life is too short!!!

Yes. Shortly before I got married I began to see what an ****** my (step)-father-in-law to be was, but it didn't stop me.
