If you were a boy, about to be born in 2008, which name would you prefer and why? It's a family name and so it means a lot to me... please no other suggestions... :) thanks.

I would prefer Quentin, it sounds like more of a boys name.

I personally prefer the name Quentin. My fiance and I have started discussing some names for a far in the future baby, and he's really stuck on that one. I think it's very unique from other children, because it's a name that I personally haven't heard in too many other places. I think Quinn sounds a lot like a womans name. It isn't too bad, but I think that Quentin just adds a little more to the name then just Quinn.

If I were a boy, I'd rather have the name Quinn. Since it is a not-so-common name in the first place, I'd go for the more common spelling. This means that during any sort of roll call in school or something where someone says my name, I'd rather have a spelling that someone is going to recognize and say right. Most of all people know how to read and pronounce the name 'Quinn' but I bet that most people won;t know how to say 'Quentin' the way you want them to. To me, names should be individual, and not too common. But I also think that first names shouldn't be very complicated when it comes to spelling. One of my friends has a not very common name spelled with a not very common spelling, and during classes, no teachers say it right on the first time, sometimes she doesn't know that it's her that they're talking about, and so on and so forth. It's not a hard name to say or read, most people just dont take the time to think about it before trying to say it. To make a long story short, I vote Quinn. Hope this helps some! :)

I love Quentin for a boy! If you have a short surname use Quentin. But if your surname is 3-4 syllables you can get away with Quinn.

eg
Quinn Donaldson
Quentin Smith

I also like the spelling Quintinn. But both Quin and Quentin are excellent choices. Personally I'd still go with Quentin or Quintinn.

Quinn is better, or how about Quinton?

I don't really like Quentin. Maybe because it is the name of an Australian celebrity who has a severe handicap (not saying I dislike it because he is handicapped but because he has been in the media so much I associate the name with him).

My nephew has a school friend called Quinn, I'm sure he is the only Quinn in the school, so it wouldn't be too common.

Quentin sounds much more masculine so I would definitely have to say Quentin. If he wants when he's older, he can choose to becalled Quinn, but i've known a lot of females named Quinn. I love that it starts with a Q and I really like both names, but Quinn just reminds me of an older "hippy" lady.
