With loved ones attending church, watching the nativity play, going home to a good meal & opening up maybe one little humbling gift.
Merry Christmas!

All my family is staying here with us (me, hubby and 2 adult sons). My Mum and Dad, my sister and her family, my brother and his family, my in laws and cousins. We all wake about 7am cook up a bbq of ham and eggs and toast (live in Australia so Christmas is very hot) after the clean up we all sit around the Christmas tree and nominate a person to be Santa. Santa then gives out the presents from under the tree. After we have all open and enjoyed our presents we have a Christmas drink and mellow out. About 1pm we all sit down to an Aussie Christmas lunch. Ham, Turkey and a variety of salads and prawns. Mid afternoon we all move to the back yard and have a game of bocci or volley ball and a few drinks. Dinner is whenever anyone is hungry and it is leftovers. I have had a lot of these Christmas's but this year we are going to my parents place and there will only be 6 of us but hopefully it will still be the same.

The only way I can really, alone. I have no place to go for Christmas, no family to spend it with. My only family are my two dear friends and I'm getting together with them tomorrow.

In PEACE and QUIET ... no Toxic People around, no demands, no one abusing me or another .. and just being able to ENJOY the company of whomever you CHOOSE to be with on Christmas Day (or not! hey, you may actually WANT to be alone).
After all, it is NOT about the "things" (or commercialization, greed) .. it is about remembering the REASON for the Season -- counting YOUR blessings, and yes, knowing to be Grateful for those blessings this year.

If I had it my way, I would keep it really low-key instead of the hectic pace my family keeps it. It should start with Advent with reflecting on the season and climax at Christmas by keeping the holy family centered in the day.
