I just bought a new 2007 Suzuki GS500F. They had it marked down from $5199.00 to $4299.00 plus markups for freight and setup for a total price of $4950.00. I got them down to an out the door price of $4885.00 which includes $91.00 for title and registration and $50.00 for Document Fee. I have a feeling that the Setup fees and Document fees are a total scam. I think I got a pretty good deal, but could I have done better? It is last years model, so I'm wondering for future reference if I could have knocked another $100 - $200 off of it. They flat out refused my offer of $4650.00 and they let me walk out. I came back and we finally settled on $4885.00. What do you think, could I have done better if I held out longer??

freight and set up should never exceed $200
any motorcycle mechanic can have the bike un-crated and running in 20 minuets.
$100 for freight and $100 for set up is more than a fair price!
The Suzuki Dealer in Central PA is selling the same 2007 bike for $3995, plus $195 freight and set up fee, and with 6% state tax and title and plates the total cost would be around $4500 to $4550.

For vehicals, I would think the break down and damage rules would apply just as much as cost.

You vehical should never leave you stranded with proper care. Some vehicals seem to be made to break down at night in the middle of nowhere. If it's like that then, no you didn't get a good deal even if you paid $500 for it.

The other rule I have is the damage rule. 99% of 4 wheel drive vehicals never leave the asphalt. Why? Because peoplle are paying $30,000+ for those vehicals to look cool and not to put dents and scrapes in them. Why pay $70,000 sports car just to panic thinking somebody is going to key you car? As far as I'm concerned, if you are scared that you will damage it, then you paid too much for it.

I wouldn't fret over $400-$500. Some of my co-workers are paying $100 or more a week in gas because they bring their monster trucks or SUVs to work. If you keep it 2 or three years the gas you save driving the motorcycle rather than a SUV, will probably pay for your bike.

$3975 on eBay. But you can't put a price on the peace of mind that you have knowing that you have warranty support from a local dealer that you trust.

Most important thing is that you enjoy the bike. Have fun, ride safe.

allways alk out on a deal at least once if their desperate to make a sale they will come after you , but rember theres a salesman that deserves a commission , and the dealership has to make a profit or they would not be there for you .

As soon as you walked back in...they knew they had you...sure you could have held out for a lower price.
