Guitar players and other musicians, do you feel like Guitar Hero is a disgrace to guitar and music?

I think guitar hero is a great game. I'm not a heavy player because I'd rather play guitar. Nonetheless, I think it is fun and a great game idea.

It's not a disgrace. It's just a game, nothing more, My daughter, who plays the cello, loves this game and is an expert at it.

It will only disgrace those that already know the elements of music, like you and I.
But honestly, I think it's a great idea to get people more involved different aspect of video gaming instead of FPS games where it lead to nowhere when you go round by round doing the same thing

Herman Li from DragonForce loves it though... he said that Through the Fire and Flames was actually harder to play on GH3 than in real life... so it does come down to what kind of music player you are

Isn't DDR a huge disgrace to dancing when compared to real dancing??

p.s. my answer is hugely lobsided since I really enjoy rhythm games

p.s.2 just have to add it in here after looking at Quietly on the Stairs response... some people that play guitar hero only play it because they love playing real guitar so much... and when refering to kids, don't be ripping on my boy Ben on youtube http://www.youtube.com/beberle2 and for him, it's not Playstation, it's XBOX360!! w00t!!!

I HATE those kids who don't play the real world guitar and think they're brilliant because they can crank out some Metallica with a glorified playstation controller.

Hey guy above me! No don't worry, I actually like Guitar Hero and I'm always impressed by people who are good at it. But it is a game, not a guitar.

My hate is directed at those kind of "try hard" kids who think they're actually playing the guitar. I'm off to check out your friend.

not at all... I can see how it can be a bit insulting to us musicians but no i think its a great and fun game.

my little brother plays it all the time..and before he had purchased it he had no intrest in the guitar, rock music, music PERiOD!

but now hes asking me to teach him how to play the guitar! ( im teaching him acoustic for now)

but yes it can help influence thoes little ones!

idn i just think people think that will help them play guitar or think their good at it, when its pretty hard and doesnt have nice big colored buttons! hahaha

it irritates me
sure, it's a great game idea,
BUT as a guitarist/bassist/several other instrumentalist..
it irritates me to no end and i cannot stand playing it.
