Indeed, pi is irrational.

We can try with 3.14, which is 3 + 14/100
3 = 3, in base 12.

14 is 12, base 12, and
100 is 83, base 12.

so the calculation is now 3 + 12/83, base 12.

doing division is pretty much the same, just be mindful that the place values are in 12's.

........____.18_____________
83 | 120 ===> 168 in base 10
83 ===> 100 in base 10
-------------
59 ===> this is in base 12
590 ===> 828 in base 10
568
------

we see it starts as 3.18, base 12.

strapping_b is correct.
Here is one way you can do the conversion:
3.1415926535897932384626433832795[10] => 3[12]
- 3 = 0.1415926535897932384626433832795 * 12 = 1.699111843077518861551720599354 => 3.1[12]
- 1 = 0.69911184307751886155172059935403 * 12 = 8.3893421169302263386206471922484 => 3.18[12]
- 8 = 0.38934211693022633862064719224842 * 12 = 4.672105403162716063447766306981 => 3.184[12]
- 4 = 0.67210540316271606344776630698098 * 12 = 8.0652648379525927613731956837718 => 3.1848[12]

. . . and so forth . . .

HAHAHAHAHA.

Pi is an irrational number, it'd be impossible to compute exactly in a base 12, just as it's impossible to compute in base 10! Just take 3.14 and convert that -- it won't be exact, but you'll feel better about yourself.

PS I have no idea how to convert it.

Well, like some people have said, it's irrational (in fact transcendental) so it's infinitely long in all bases, but I make the first 100dp to be:

3.184809493B918647341B68629117
9769BB79690AABA744514314481B

(A=10, B=11)

3.12 would be a close enough in base-12.

But that's hardly precise. Hmmm, if you're doing computing you can simply let the computer handle that for you by using the math functions.
