A woman has a period practically once a month. The same amount of time the Moon goes round the Earth. It controls the tides and has a strong gravitational control over our surface.

This popular notion has been around for a long time. People noticed a similarity between the human menstrual cycle and the synodic period of the moon. This was an understandable misconception until large amounts of data were available and a true average human estrous cycle could be determined. Even though people have periods starting at all different times of the month, it might still be reasonable to assume that they are somehow coordinated with the lunar cycle.

It is seen that the two cycles differ by a couple of days. Those who study such harmonic cycles in nature find that if there is true causality, there is little detectable difference between the two cycles, whatever they are. This difference is too great to conclude a relationship. Furthermore, why would we be the only mammals with a lunar-based cycle? There is a large range of menstrual cycles among mammals.

If our periods were controlled by the moon, that means every woman in the entire world would get her period at the exact same time... Can you imagine, every 4 weeks, half the world gets really moody...

Answer is yes.
It does not control the exact date, but the gap between one period and the next period that is 28 days average is the time taken by moon to go round the earth once.

I can't believe I'm answering this question....

If the moon controlled women's periods, then all 3 billion women on the planet would have periods at the exact same time. Mercifully, that isn't the case.

But half of all women are on the other side of the planet, so they all would not be effected at the same time! Yes, they are all effected and for some it really does a number on them!

No. Women´s periods are controlled by their own organic conditions.

Only if women go out at night, or spend lots of time in the moonlight.
