Lets face it. Hollywood's got no original material. Everything is an adaptation of a book, a comic book or graphic novel and the worst: a REMAKE of an old movie or TV series. It's bringing in money, but even the masses will grow tired of being ripped off.

So what are they going to (have to) do in order to regain their creative supremacy? Will the Hollywood Monster finally dissolve and put the power back in the hands of the artists?

Wrath hit the nail on the head. I'll tell you exactly where all the new ideas are... SHELVED. You want to know why everything is a remake or adaptation, etc.? Because they make money. The public in general likes the familiar. People will go en mass to see Spiderman 4, but a film with an original idea debuting at Laemmle may break even. Why? Because the masses don't want to shell out $10.00 for something that's not a sure thing (even though these familiar projects are not great by far, but they have it stuck in their head that it's a safer bet than the indie film which is an indie in the first place because the major money people wouldn't back the project).

So to answer the second question, about what do they have to do to regain creative supremecy? Take a ____ chance! Let a writer / director maintain creative control and say screw it to the ratings! Really, we can handle an intelligent film!

ok, I'm done.

Revive all the talented people that are now dead.

I know, people in Hollywood are NOT talented anymore, not like they USED to be!
