this may sound stupid,but what legal trouble would dexter morgan get into if he got caught?seeing as the whole kills killer thing kinda messes with morality,but from a legal standpoint what would he get?life?

if he got the death penalty,that would kinda be hypocritical of the court, wouldnt it?because they would have done the same thing to most of his victims if they had gotten to them first right?

In society we have decided that murder is still murder, even if you have a very good reason. And mass murder is still mass murder, in his case. His best chance of getting away would be a hung jury or a mistrial, if his attorney could stir up enough sympathy in the jury.

He would likely get the death penalty. If not that, multiple consecutive life sentences without parole.

Since his kill count is at least in the 30s or 40s or so.
