In terms of preferred opponents (in order)
1. Alan Keyes
2. Duncan Hunter
3. Tom Tancredo
4. Ron Paul
5. Fred Thompson
The next three are tough to rank in a particular order because they all have strengths that could make them formidable but they all risk driving away part of the Republican base
Mitt Romney
Mike Huckabee
Rudy Giuliani
The candidate that the Democrats do not want to face under any circumstances is John McCain. While the other three candidates have a chance to win (if the campaign goes just right), McCain would start out as the favorite to win.
I would be satisfied running Hillary at the top of my ticket in my state (a swing state in the midwest) against any of the Republicans but John McCain. I think Hillary would carry it against any of the Republicans but McCain. That is not to say that Hillary is the best candidate to have at the top of the ticket in my state, just that I think that she would carry my state (which George W. carried in the last two elections).

I believe I am of the same opinion as matthew 3 above. She will comfortably win over any Republican that is there in the race.
In fact, I want to go one step further to say that let the Republicans nominate any one outside the presently available lot and put the best they have got in the whole of their party , Hillary shall trounce .

Ron Paul (think Keyes V Obama numbers)
Alan Keyes (Ditto)
Tom Tancredo (though he wouldn't be as lopsided)
Mike Huckabee (Glass jaw)
Duncant Hunter (He makes her look good on the stand)
NOW people who if they manage it poorly would be easy pickings for it
Romney and Thompson (and I say this as a Thompson supporter)
