If we were to live for ever, time would hold no meaning for us.... when time holds no value, we would find it difficult to get motivated to achieve anything within any given time... what would be life without any motivation? In short, life forever would mean that life would lose its meaning and character...... we would just be drifting without any anchor..... rather strange state of being even to imagine! I am not at all sure that it would be any bliss to live forever, even if it is for everyone and we need not fear parting of the near and dear ones and being left alone. Even if all of us were to live forever, in my view, it would turn out to be a curse rather than a boon. I think it is death that defines life and living that we know and cherish as something precious.

We do live forever.
It is commonly thought that we in the here and now have a soul. That is not quite right. It is the soul that has a body.
This is it! The one we are living in now. We only have one body and when it gives up the ghost, that is when our spirit leaves the dead body then we never come back to one unless God decides different.
Our souls live on forever.

you mean why cant we be "immortal"?
just think, if im immortal, then i will be overconfident.
if i kill someone, police cannot shoot me, i m immortal.
if i steal something, nobody can killme, i m immortal.
this is not good. also if we ALL live forever, there wouldnt be more people. we'll feel free to do all bad things. killing, stealing etc. because we're immortal, no one can do anything to us. we wont be able to give birth, it will be...
like very odd..i dont think we should all be immortal.
n e way, god made us like this, so we cannot change it.
c'z god knows what may happen in the future if we were immortal! jus my opinion!

Our flesh bodies grow old and wear out,and we die.Our spiritual soul has the capability of eternal life. However, God determines whether or not our mortal (libel to die) soul will inherit immortality (deathlessness). This of course is spoken of in Revelation, and happens at, or during The Great White Throne Judgment.

If you really think about it,
The world would be a strange place if people never died.
Think about old people you know,
Now think if there were older people.
That would be creepy looking.
Plus, there would be a lot of weird things it seems.
I think there has to be death in order for new life.
So, idk.
I just think it would be really strange.

Right now I want very much to be able to live as long as possible, thousands of years. Although I think it is possible to live thousands of years, I don't think that it is possible to live forever. But if I do succeed in living thousands of years, that will give me lots of time to see if it is possible to live longer, perhaps forever (as unlikely as that seems). I am hopeful that rejuvenation technology will be available within my life, so that I will not age. As a backup, in case rejuvenation technology is not available in my lifetime, I have made arrangements to be cryonically preserved. That way, I can be preserved until medical science not only achieves rejuvenation and cures for all diseases, but the ability to repair cryopreservation damage. (Hopefully, I would be vitrified, and there would be no freezing damage). If all diseases were cured (including aging) and war was eliminated, then the causes of death would be accident, suicide or murder. In the United States in 2006 accidents were responsible for 5.0% of deaths, suicide for 1.4% and homicide for 0.8%. Assuming that you were determined to live forever, suicide could be ruled-out as a cause of death. I have heard it said that if only accidents and homicide were causes of death, that a person might be expected to live over a thousand years. (Dividing 80 years by 0.06 gives 1,333 years, but that may not be a mathematically valid operation.) However, if you only had murder and suicide to worry about as causes of death, and were trying to live as long as possible, then you would become increasingly safety conscious. If you could reduce your chances of death due to accident or murder significantly each year you remained alive, then you could out-race the statistics and avoid death due to those causes. The Sun is getting to be increasingly hot, and by a billion years from now it is expected that the Earth will be too hot for liquid water to exist. That should give plenty of time to move to Mars, and outer asteroids, however, as well as building colonies that simply exist in space or revolve around increasingly distant planets. Eventually, other stars will have to be found. The stellar phase of our galaxy will begin winding down in about ten trillion years. In the meantime, one must avoid hazards like being hit by asteroids, meteors or comets, supernova, black holes, and probably lots of other things we cannot imagine. It seems inevitable that something is going to kill you that you cannot predict or control. Nonetheless, the longer that I would be able to live, the more time that would give me to solve the problems associated with trying to live longer. Like you, I could survive the loss of everyone that I know -- even all the rest of humanity, but I would greatly prefer not to have to go it alone.

nothing last forever, where life ends there is a new beginning, it's the nature and we human beings are part of it.

The real "us" does live forever. We just don't do it in the same vehicle (body). Do you drive the same car all of your life?
