I had to wear uniforms in middle school.
I'm not for or against them.
They have the good and bad aspects.
Good being that you don't have to worry as much about what you need to wear, or whether people are going to tease you about what you wear. Although many people still find a way to tease other people. They do help in a way to break down cliques. Since it's not so much about clothing and external appearances as it is personality and common interests.
The bad is that people will still find a way to rebel against uniform dress code. And it does limit individuality. I got detention so many times in middle school for wearing a red shirt (with only a little showing) under my polo shirt.

I am for them. Before I moved to a new high school, I thought that it would be hell to wear them. Then I started wearing them and realized that high school is not a fashion show. There is way too much pressure in some schools to have the coolest clothes and uniforms releases that pressure, so they can focus more on their studies.

Depends on the uniform. Some of them are just plain stupid. They look stupid, they are uncomfortable, and often the version for the girls is not as good as the version for the boys, they have to wear tiny skirts which isn't very nice for them, except some girls of course who like it and go around looking like slags. Also you can get sick of it.

If the uniform is sensible and practical though then it can be a good thing because it really does eliminate some teasing based on clothing, and also it's much easier to get dressed in the morning than having to find/choose clothes.

We dont have a clothing code in my university. Sometimes its hard because I dont know what to wear and I get conscious people might think I always wear the same shirt.

Pro to uniform!

trivia: University of the Philippines (my school) is one of the very very very very few schools in the Philippines that dont require uniform.

With so many gangs around to day, I believe it is important to make everyone as safe as possible in schools across America. The gangs have gotten to where they are starting to recruit kids as young as elementary school.
With the school uniform, the kids don't have to worry about that COLOR an item of clothing is. There are so many colors that are gang associated, as well as bandanas, they style of dress, and the list goes on and on.
I would have been happy to bear the expense of uniforms if hte schools where I live had wanted it so.
I hope that this answers your question.

They annoy me, especially when they feel like the cardboard-ironed-snobsville variety of uniform.

You're wearing them to distinguish that you're from , and that is proud of .. it's students or whatever, and so that teachers know that , is from .

Our highschool uniform was just ((Denim pants and light blue shirt.)) I can't complain with that seeing as I dress the same every time I go out anyway.

I am totally against school uniforms. They just cover up a person's true personality. I believe an individual has the right to self expression.

Personally, I don't like wearing them. But I can still see how they could be good though because they could keep people from focusing so much on what they look like and just learn at school.
