I haven't touched the controls and the refrigerator is only 2 years old and a GE high end model.

the fan in the freezer is messed up mine does that to you have ice built up. un plug it and let it thaw and i bet itll work for another couple months.

Only 2 years old? It should still be under warranty ... I hope?

Sounds like a problem with the thermostat. If you haven't touched the controls, then something is causing the temperature to fluctuate, and since it's in both the freezer and the fridge, I think I'd suspect that the thermostat needs to be replaced. In any case, I'd call the manufacturer and ask to have it looked at.

Meantime, keep the doors closed or remove all the food to an ice chest or a cooler with some ice. I remember last time a fridge went bad on me, I lost several hundred dollars worth of food. But it was an old fridge, so I had to just buy a new one.

Have a certified GE serviceman check it out. in most cases it will probably be a simple problem. GE customer service will help you out. Call them first. There is a class action suite going on with them. I cannot give you details.
