There's definitely not one single good answer to this. Actors are just like any other population of people, the only differences are that maybe a higher percentage are a tad more insecure and need that attention from others to feel good about themselves :-) No, seriously.

If you mean what qualities do you need to posess in general to be a good actor?

Maybe the ability to stay focused in the face of getting turned down over and over again knowing that your time will come.

Being able to find a way to take classes no matter what it takes and work hard to always train. There's always something new to learn & discover.

The abbility to listen is key. Half of all acting truly is reacting and that's not always in a scene :-)

The ability to take on many different personalities, understand the many nuances it would take to transition from one feeling to the next.

The ability to remember lines while not looking like you're straining to remember lines and stay in character the entire time.

The ability to kiss @ss like nobody's business until you are known enough in the business not to have to anymore.

The ability to make everyone you meet feel like they're your friend. That is unless you decide to be one of those brooding moody types. People need to like you to cast you.

The ability to be counted on. Show up on time, if not early.

The ability to sincerely congratulate the guy next to you for getting a callback even if you didn't. Never let anything get you down or make you lose your spark! They'll see that right away...

The ability to stay humble and always remember that those around you matter just as much as you do.

I'm sure there are plenty more, but ths is what I'm thinking right now.

my two cents,
Marianne

Hi!
I think the personality traits of a good actor include having charisma and being bubbly/happy as much as possible. No one likes to see an actor who always gets in trouble with the law as well because it's disappointing when you think someone is your role model and then they go and do something stupid. Also, a good actor must be one who is approachable and interesting to talk to - they shouldn't be too highly strung and stuck up!
I think most actors that people like, are the ones that don't get in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, and those that are nice on the inside, because on the outside, their personal traits will shine through their acting.
I hope this helps you, if you want to be a good actor!

everyone's different- the mark of a good actor will be professionalism.

A lot of actors don't know when to be serious or when to kid, or when to get upset and when to let things go.

A good personality for an actor is one that allows them to work with people they do not like.

I think it differs from one actor to another, there isn't really a formula.
Meryl Streep and Carol Burnett are two great actresses, with very different personalities.
