If so, have you lost respect for them? Assuming you are a non-gamer that is.

I'm a gamer, but just offering my perspective for this question. Depends on what you mean by losing respect for them--are they too aggressive when they lose, or are they simply addicted to the games they play? If it's either, I feel sympathetic for you. It's not a problem to me unless they're skipping their responsibilities or their personality has changed. The same applies to the internet. They actually have therapy for videogame/internet addicts now, tragic.

I'm a gamer, but I don't see why anyone would lose respect for someone because of an innocent hobby that is shared by many other people. There may be cases in which gamers are jerks or slobs, but this can be true of anyone, not limited to those who rely on video games for recreation.

No, and yes.
I don't LIVE with a gamer, but my best friend/ex boyfriend is one.
It's hard to respect someone when you can't have an actual conversation with them because while talking to you, they are online playing a game.
Sometmies you need someone to grow up, pay attention, and stop gaming for 2 seconds and get back to the real world.
Sometimes they don't know when to stop, so their real life suffers...
My other best friend's husband is addicted to WoW (World of Warcraft, for those unfamiliar people) and it's so annoying how he will keep playing no matter what they are trying to talk about, he will "raid" in the middle of a conversation about something important.
I still have respect for them, they're good guys, but like I said, it's annoying when you can't even have a conversation.
Right this second, as I write this, i am being blown-off for an online game...*sigh*

No, I dont...

Because we al have that thing in the world we that makes us most comfortable and makes us have fun.

For some it is games, for some it is going to the mall and others spending time with their family.

And games is not something that makes us lose respect for people, that is like hating something a guy loves for no reason...

I lose respect for heavy gamers, all they do is play and play, but im sure 1-3 hours a day isnt bad .

Yes and no.

See, I design games. I don't actually play them all too often. (oddly)
Sometimes to see a gamer do something amazing, like make a team plan and win a contest, makes you respect them a bit.

However when they drool over a 3D model of a girl, curse up a storm, or play way too much...
You just can't respect them as much.

If they do that in a game, why would real-life be any different?

I'm really the only gamer in my house. My sister plays video games with me sometimes as well, but I'm really the only gamer.

No, but gamers are just weird. I like to play video games, but only sometimes. I'm not obsess with it, it takes me a year just to finish one game.
