Should it be "In ourselves we trust," instead? Should we remove the term "God bless America"? Should we remove the well-loved hymn America the Beautiful just because it says, "God shed his grace on thee"? Do we always have to be politically correct? Might as well have someone arrested for saying "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays," right?

No, we shouldn't take anything out.

I don't care so much about the "under God" stuff and, frankly, if we changed the motto to "In ourselves we trust," that would be a lie. Americans are woefully lacking in civic education; you only need to look around on Y!A to see that.

But what on earth would we "remove" ATB from? It has no legal status. And arresting people for saying "Merry Christmas" violates their free speech rights. These are silly examples.

We have millions of Americans that don't eat daily. We have thousands upon thousands of Veterans homeless yet they gave and risked their life so you could breath. We have an economy that is about to collapse and create a depression that will make the great depression look like a toy pop gun.

We are facing WWIII, the take over of America and formed into the North American Union as 1 giant country with Canada and Mexico. We have government officials that lie, cheat and steal from us daily and are running our world into the ground.

And out of all this.... changing a motto is no.1 on your list?

No wonder this country is going to the crapper.

I love the neutrality of our constitution and the insight that our founding fathers had in trying their best to be inclusive of all people. This is our history and has basically made it possible for people of all faiths, religions, nationalities, and belief systems to reside for the most part peacefully in one country. I can never see a good reason to remove what they have written or see that it will truly serve any good purpose for this country. It may not be perfect, but what in life is? It is our history and I stand by it and value it's importance.

This country was founded on Judia-Christian principles, yet people are free to worship in their own way.

People ramble on about the seperation of church and state. All the consitution really says is that the government shall not establish a state religion.

This was in the hopes of avoiding the corruption of Henry VIII and the Anglican church.

In God We Trust, is something good and noble. It does not force God on people, but reminds them that there is someone looking out and over us.

You don't see us rounding up and burning aethiest at the stake. We are about as religiously free country as you will find in the world.

I do not agree and if someone doesn't like in God we trust then they can move to somewhere like HUMMM Iraq. If everything needs to be politically correct then they better start changing every Constitution both states and federal because they all have God in them too. It is getting ridiculous.

Hey, if you want to give me all of your money because of "In God We Trust" on each and every bill, I'll be glad to relieve you of your bad feelings about God.

Absolutely not .... it's what "our founding fathers" believed and still what I believe -- albeit I am not fanatic of any sort. I am a Christian because I believe Jesus is the son of God BUT I also believe that the Bible is a history book -- it was written by "man" and "no man' IS PERFECT...HE did not create ANY of us to be perfect. But the fact that we are taking God's name away from everything, it is corruptive. Did you also see that Santas aren't allowed to say HO HO HO anymore??? How sad is that?
