I mean I know how people say that you take what you can from life but who cares about what you get from life if in the end you are just going to end up buried in the ground

The point of life is to learn from everything you experience.
There is one lesson after the other coming until you learned how to live in accordance with God's Will. If you do not want to use the name "God" use instead the concept, that you will learn how to adapt to "the laws of the universe" or the "energy" and "power" which drives all movement.

When we speak of the "point" of anything, we are asking about a plan or design or thought process. We don't ask "point" questions of natural processes. We can't ask evolution about the point of life for evolution is not an intelligent process. It would be like asking a snowstorm the point of snowflakes. Evolution doesn't care whether you live or die or procreate or be happy or anything else.
"Point of life" therefore requires God as the answer. Most answers here are really to a different question, i.e. "what will make me happy?" They assume that point of life is to be happy and all that is left is how to do that.
But there is no point of life without God. All is pointless, meaningless, purposeless.

Wow, do you really post questions like that waiting for someone to come around and post the ultimate answer? Ever scince the beginning of life, living creatures have wondered this question, and you're not about to get it just by asking Yahoo! members, unless one of them happens to be God.
