Basic question, I am debating between both and I don't know which one to get. Please give me feedback on experiences if you have one of these.

Thanks

I have a MacBook, which I purchased in late May of this year, and I love it. My first computer ever was a Mac, and the three following were all Windows-based. The only trouble I had with my MacBook was getting it to cooperate with my already existing wireless network; however, that was resolved and there have been no real problems. I do not have the security issues I had with my other Windows-based computers and the MacBook works quite quickly. It is certainly very user-friendly and comes equipped with all the basics anyone would want in a laptop/notebook. I would highly recommend buying one-they take a bit of adjusting if you are not used to using them, but it is certainly the easiest and best computer I have ever owned.

The main question is: how likely are you to need to bring your computer with you? An iMac would be more powerful, but it would be an absolute pain to take with you anywhere. If you don't foresee any real need to go places with your Mac in tow, an iMac would probably be a more capable machine. (I only have a PowerBook G4, so I can't offer any personal anecdotes.)

Buy a laptop if "mobility" is important to you.

If not, buy a desktop, you'll get more computer for the money.
