you need to earn it before you get it just like to sow and then to harvest so yes you need to respect yourself first before others do the same. if others disrespect you then you know for yourself that it their problem and not yours

No not me they don't -

I think if you want respect you have to sell yourself a lot and make sure that you come tops.

There is this tit for tat poker game going on out there, for status points and the game is to get one over on everyone that you meet. My self respect comes from being outside the status game so not takin g up the card, I constantly lose by default.

Plus. rule #5. states that if you have a mental health problem and are not named Einstein or Churchill or a physical problem and you are not called Stephen Hawkins you are always one down.

If you look you can see people edging around each other vying for top dog position.

And you can tell who has won and who has lost by the look on their faces and which one is wagging its tail.

It is very apparent - where I live it's the national sport.

I respect a lot of people, and I get the respect of most people. But there are those who, if you dont agree with them, whether they are right or wrong, they will not respect you. I believe respect of other people is taught to the children by the parents. If your parents didnt respect the rights of others, chances are you wont either, unless you have been given the opportunity to learn how to respect. Sometimes stranges outside your family will teach you how to respect the rights of others. Society can not survive without this respect.

If a person feelsMOST people dont respect them, then it is time for that person to look within themselves and ask this simple question: DO I RESPECT other people, either within my family or outside my family circle? Do I respect their rights to be different from me both in looks and ideas?

Think about it

I think some people respect myself as much as I respect who I am.

Sometimes more sometimes less, it is all about life. People tend to be afraid of those that rae real, but those who assert themselves and don't much care are often very responsive in a positive way. too be honest I prefer it that way, to be respected by those who are happy eith themselves and/or successful over those that are hopeless, yeah way better.

Some people are disrespectful merely because they respect themselves too much while others are disrespectful because they DON'T respect themselves.

Meanwhile there are people who respect others but don't respect themselves.

Everybody's different.

In my case its a mixed bag. I generally speaking respect myself but some people are nice to me others aren't. Guess it depends on their perception of me and their mood.

To an extent, yes one is dependent on the other. But, strength of character is key to earning the respect of others.
