tonight coming home from work about 10:35pm i passed some one in a place where i thought was a passing zone because he was going to slow (not even the speed limit) and i had a really bad night and wanted to go home....about an hour later i get a call from the police saying he just got off the phone w/ my dad ( its my dads car i was driving) and the guy i passed was an OFF DUITY officer in his personal car he said i passed him and passed other cars blah blah blah...and he is gonna be a nice guy and write me 1 ticket for passing in a none passing zone and not the 7 other tickets he could write me for speeding, wreak less driving, wreakless endangerment, passing in a non passing zone etc etc...
he only got my lic place because he ran it when he got to work

This is more of a political question in reality. An off duty officer doesn't really have the authroity to do this. He actually is not supposed to be able to write the ticket. He is probably going to have to have another officer write it. Or he will wait until he is on duty again, and date it then. If you have a drivers license and you can get a parent to go with you, you can fight this ticket. You could stress that you were under the impression it was a passing zone, and you attempted to pass. He was also off duty, and if it was that big of an issue he could have had another member of the police force write the ticket then and there. He didn't have to run the plate and call your dad. I would look into ways to fight it. Good luck

What I would do is I would talk to your dad honestly about it. Maybe it was infact a non passing zone and you would have gotten all those tickets. Be careful when you are driving. Especcially if someone is slow. Take a couple minutes before you leave work or sit in the car for a couple minutes before you drive of if you are upset. Going home in a rush and upset is never good. You could miss important things. Such as stop signs etc. I would talk to your dad. One ticket is not that bad. One ticket compared with seven is good. Go with your dad to the spot where you passed him and see if it is a passing zone or not. That way he is a witness and heard what you said as well as the off duty officers. The off duty officer also needs to drive correctly. It does piss people and annoy people when someone drives slow.

Depends, was it a non passing zone (doesn't matter what you believed it was, just matters if it actually was a passing zone), because if it was, the cop's right. As for a speeding ticket, as long as you were going the speed limit, and assuming it was a passing zone, you're allowed to speed up in order to pass (the cop who did my road test was pretty sure about that at least). He might have you on the reckless driving/endangerment stuff, because thats up to the officer's discretion.

Well if you dont know for sure that is was a passing zone then there is a chance that it wasnt so you could get all those tickets if he wanted to be really hard on you and he can do that if he thinks that you were endangering someone else or yourself by the way you were driving. I am sorry this happend though it really does sucks.

Did he really lie? Because most off duty cops would not waste their time running your plates and calling your dad unless you were actually being wreckless. There's A LOT of bad drivers out there, so he's not going to waste his time hunting down a driver with a tiny little infraction; he's only going to use his free time to do so if a driver is being dangerous. Would an off-duty doctor ignore someone having a heart attack on the street? NO. A cop promises to uphold the law and protect citzens and although there are obviously bad eggs in any profession he did the right thing by NOT pulling you over and putting you in an awkward position of pulling over for a strange man in an unmarked car. I don't think he lied at all, I think you're just mad because he was off duty and you didn't think anyone had seen you.

Well it was night and you should go like five miles per hour less than the speeding limit to be more careful, and you did pass him in a no passing zone. You can argue it in court, because if they find like one flaw (I.E. they didn't follow the absolute precautions) you don't have to pay. But if I were you I would explain it to my dad thoroughly and just pay the ticket.

I don't think that is a legal way of distributing tickets. The cop has no proof that it was you driving the car. You should ask this question in the law and ethics section.

What did he lie about? You said you "thought" it was a passing zone.....and if you did indeed pass him in a non-passing zone, he SHOULD give you a ticket for all those things, even RECKLESS driving. I think you should be grateful that you didn't get all those other tickets. Just show down and stop getting so pissed off when somebody is going too slow for you.

the biggest ingredient with a canines who's aggressive is legal accountability, the main problem-loose style of intense aggression is nutrition aggression. Kennel and rescue spots are constrained and that they view it as a secure and speedy thank you to triage the animals. till there's a qualified adopter, foster or rescue spots with the flair of effectively and adequately rehabilitating each canines this regrettably is mandatory... undergo in concepts, maximum shelters and communities like the SPCA have not got a similar in intensity screening and interviewing technique that lots of the breed rescues and self reliant foster based rescues have. working with a breed rescue, i will elect if the canines is suited for the residing house, i will carry a canines for an experienced proprietor who knows of the subject concerns the canines has and the thank you to artwork the canines in the process the habit. The orgs on television act as animal administration and enforcement, additionally they at the instant are not getting the luxurious of choosing and picking canines who are available like rescues. i could have a no longer straight forward time of their place and that i'd desire to grant them props for the artwork and attempt they placed into being a decrease kill preserve, they actively attempt to rehabilitate and undertake out canines that maximum different shelters could immediately euthanize and the certainty that while they'd desire to they attempt to euthanize and humanely as attainable. There are nonetheless shelters available in the US that gasoline canines. on a similar time, i individually i think of the SPCAs technique is a splash to harsh and black and white, with the components they have, i think of that they'd desire to have a behaviorist artwork with lots of the animals they return to shelters or immediately euthanize using attempt after a quick quantity of time with none attempt at proper resocialization and rehabilitation.
