Eating alot in a day doesn't really fill you up. During the night the stomach will digest and he will become hungry in the morning. Even if he ate alot he would still be hungry.

Yeah, if he is eating a lot today for something tomorrow, he will likely get a good amount of sleep. After his 7-10 hrs of sleep, his body will require food.

Tell him to have protein tonight, and some complex carbohydrates such a potatos, yams, or brown rice in the morning

it's great being an adult. you can eat whatever you want, when you want it and nobody can yell at you. i eat cereal or ice cream for lunch and if i'm hungry 2 hours later, i can have oreos or cake. (no, i'm not fat.)

Possibly not first thing in the morning - but I imagine that by noon, he'll want something to eat.
