It's the physics equivalent of "why the ocean's near the shore" (a line in "If I Only Had a Brain" from the Wizard of Oz).

Some people with mystical imaginations think that because we exist the universe was "designed" for us, what with all the precise physical constants required for life to be possible. The answer to such empty-headed philosophising is to simply point out that we wouldn't be here to ask that question if the universe were otherwise.
