It didn't come on last Wednesday.
A new show called "Crowned" was on.
Is the season over or has the show moved to a different time?

Yes I was thinking it was the strike but then I wondered why they put a brand new show in their time slot.

They put on "Crowned" last week to help promote it. The next episode of Gossip Girl is apparently the obligatory holiday episode so they want to show it the week before Christmas rather than two weeks before Christmas.

Normally, when the network puts a new show on the air, the network orders eleven episodes. If the first few episodes get acceptable ratings, the network will then order the remaining eleven episodes. However, for this year's new shows, the writer's strike hit just after the order for additional episodes would have been made.

Looking at the CW website and the list of episodes so far, this next episode "Roman Holiday" would be episode number 11. As such, I doubt that there are any more completed episodes at the present time. Unless the writer's strike is resolved by mid-January, I would not expect to see any more episodes this season.

It's the writers strike. The show isn't on because nobody is writing episodes.

Reality shows like Crowned don't need writers, so networks are filling them in for their scripted shows.
