I acquired a laptop recently and I want to connect it to the internet using my current set-up that I have with Yahoo/AT&T. Since I don't have the installation disk anymore, does Yahoo have something I can download and transfer it to CD so I can use that info to connect the laptop to the internet?

If you have a modem/router, all you need to do is to run your wireless setup program on your laptop. If this is a secure network, provide password, your laptop will connect to the network. If the laptop does not have network card, you can buy a wireless adapter to connect to the network.

Depends on the laptop. XP has the programs built in to get connected. You have to go through the connection wizard, answer some questions like dial up or DSL, With or without a password(WITH for SBC), SOME of the DSL modems that SBC supplies have 2 ports or more for hooking up 2 computers at the same time. Some of those came with a wireless card for hooking up your laptop with WiFi But you didn't mention what modem you have or if it is actually DSL.

I'd just call your internet provider they can email you a link or tell you where to get the software. Its no charge for that type of stuff... You might also check their website.

We need some details about your service if you want someone to find it for you, I know at&t work with yahoo for broadband access, but I don't know why it would require any software.

Are you on dial-up? cable? or dsl?
