Boys don't normally wear their own underwear in a bathing suit, but there's stupid mesh stuff built in. It just holds all the guy's "junk" while he swims...I personally hate it.
Plane seats have to be upright for safety. If the plane crashes during takeoff, the seat design can keep your head and neck safer if upright than reclined.

I don't know about other males, but I don't wear underwear under my swim suit (Ick, it's like wearing underwear under pantyhose!)
No clue on verucaes.
The news has been an entertainment center since at least the 60's
Not sure about upright seat positions, they are not required to do it in first class (I think). It may be slightly safer when in the closer seating arrangements.
Yes, suspension is an outdated punishment, but it hopefully removes a disruptive influence.
