A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.

Prohibition goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes.

No because he even wanted to prohibit the sale of alcohol. He gave a famous speech at the Temperance Society on the evils of alcohol.

Believe it or not, the reason Pot was never legalized back in the day was because it would have mainly been an import product from countries our Government did not want our money going to.

Alcohol was easily produced right here in the United States and lots of Legislators had high stakes in Alcohol.

So our boys in the Government had no stakes in Pot, so there was no incentive for them to legalize it. Yet they knew if they kept it illegal and kept Alcohol legal, they would still be getting richer.

These are the facts, believe it or not.

I can't speak for what Abe would do today, he would most likely be under the influence of the lobbyist and therefore might have his hands tied.

Pot is nowhere near as destructive as alcohol, but damn it, there just wasn't any money in it...so let's keep the country drunk and stupid instead of high and happy.

forget who the tea company is now, but a letter from mr lincoln to the company expressed his great delight with their product. he said, in essence, nothing i like more at the end of the day than to relax with a marijuana cigarette and a cup of your fine tea. believe it or don't, letter was authenticated as signed by old honest abe. this country has changed more than most will ever know.

I wish we could find a presidential candidate today like honest Abe. I don't see anyone stepping up yet. In the meanwhile can I join your religion? (giggle)
