I agree with you, if you're going to vote then know who you're voting for. I'm going to keep researching on candidates until election day, 'cause I've got this crazy notion that my vote actually counts.

I think not voting is worse, but unless we study each candidate well , what they believe and if they follow through on those things if they have been in office before. So I'm sure we are all somewhat ignorant when we vote. Some just vote for a recognizable name even if they haven't checked them out. Do you think you should vote a straight (and I don't mean heterosexual ) :-) ticket? Gee then you wouldn't have to study at all. sorry, I've been having headaches, guess my halos on too tight. Evie

Voting in ignorance is much worse. Many of us spend a lot of time studying and debating the issues. Whether liberal, conservative, or moderate, the majority of us know the issues, and will vote accordingly.
But there are a lot of people out there who don't pay much attention. They may hear a snippet from a conservative or a liberal talk show host, and base their votes on that one, totally biased opinion.
And if I'm not familiar with a ballot measure, or the school board candidates, I will generally skip that item and not vote either way.
If you don't know the issues, please stay home!
Vote for Rudy!

Voting in ignorance is by far worse. That being said, after attending numerous village board meetings, I'm convinced that 90%+ of the population vote in ignorance.

Voting in ignorance is far worse. I believe that you should have to take a voter literacy test in order to register to vote. In Washington state the state supreme court just overturned a statewide initiative putting a cap on the amount counties can raise property taxes in a year saying that the voters didn't know what they were voting for. If everyone who votes was required to take a voter literacy test you wouldn't be able to have judges overturning statewide elections based on ignorance.

If you vote with ignorance maybe you can select (by casualty or error) a good candidate. If you don't vote your are resigning your principal constitutional right.
