If you have a USB memory stick, then you can transfer files that way. However, I'm assuming that the contents of your computer are far greater than the capacity of your USB drive. Here is what I recommend depending on your time and budget:

Cheap but time consuming: transfer files using USB drive

Costs a bit of money but very simple and safe: purchase an external hard drive, plug it into your old computer using USB, copy the contents to your external hard drive, and then copy the files from your external to your new computer.

Cheap and simple, but requires a bit of technical knowledge: purchase a USB to IDE or SATA cable, depending on the type of hard drive your computer currently uses. Remove the hard drive from your old computer, and connect it to your new computer via the transfer cable. Copy files to your new computer. Be careful not to damage your hard drive, as you may lose data.

There are several ways, but they all require some type of transfer method for storage.

If your computer has usb support, try a portable drive, you already ruled out the burning to disc, and using a floppy is only usful if you don't have a lot of pics. Each floppy can store 1.44MB which may or may not be helpful depending on how big your pics are.

Do you know if you have a standard NIC card? It takes the LAN cables, you may have heard of them as Cat5? You can transfer files with a crossover cable connecting a NIC on each computer if they have that.

You might also try taking the harddrive out of the older computer and slaving it over to the new one, as a secondary drive.

Another possibility might be uploading the pics to the internet then downloading them on the new pc. Try http://www.Imageshack.us for example.

We'd really need to know more about what your computer has in terms of hardware to aid much with that stuff, the internet upload only would require an internet connection with your 56k modem though.

If you have a network, you can just share the root of the drive on the old computer and pull what you need off of it with the new one. Make sure that you're running at 100Mbps or it will take ages. This is the easiest/cheapest if you know how to do it... but you said you have 56k so I'm assuming you have no network/router.

Grab an external hard drive or call someone who knows what to back up! This isn't hard; I know exactly what to back up without my clients telling me what they want. Of course, their input is always appreciated however :-P

Yea you can most likely fit them all on a 2GB pen/flash drive. If not you could make a few transfers. That will be the easiest way.

You can use the thumb drive, but if your 2 computers are hooked up to the same router then you can setup a share folder, or if you have internet setup a ftp server, or use teamviewer to trasfer the files to the new computer.... there are many ways to do it.. if you need help, just ask....

If there's space in the new PC, you could take the hard drive out of the old PC and put it in the new one as a secondary drive.
