I have to do a research paper on that, I picked the topic, but I mostly need to know how to organize it and get some more literary sources. I'm a freshman in high school, so it doesn't have to be to in depth. It has to be 5 pages double spaced (I know that's like nothing) but we have to have more book sources than web sources, if someone could help me out in the book part that'd be great, I know what to search and I've checked out all my school's search engine sites, but I can't seem to find any books. HELP PLEASE :!) Thanks so much!

Women got to work at higher paying factory jobs normally held by men instead of the usual lower paying jobs normally held by them. According to the women who actually worked in the factories, it wasn't all great. They still faced harrassment from the male workers there and were often seen by them as not being as competent. Then after the war, they were fired to make room for the returning veterans. In other words, they served their country admirably and then were tossed aside when no longer needed.

To sum up: The women filled the jobs that the men left behind. This is when they began to realize the value of paid work. When the men came home from the war, most of the women were fired, and the "feminine mystique" era began.

Resources:
The Feminine Mystique, chapter 8 ("The Mistaken Choice")
Whatever you can find on any research databases your university has to offer. I highly recommend Academic Search Elite and ProQuest Research Library.

Go to your school library and get onto the electronical databases. There should be plenty of scholarly articles there that you can list as both secondary and primary sources. Ebsco and Jstor will have sections strictly for history. You'll be able to find your info there. Having ppl do it here will not help you learn how to do proper research. Trust me, if you're in school, it will be a very valuable skill.

Women were called upon to go work in substitute of the men filling many types of jobs. Most were discarded when the men came home.

A fictional movie called, "A League of Their Own" paints a good picture.

Try using the key words/phrases
'women' 'usa' 'war' 'work' 'workforce' 'total war'

in the search engine of your choice.
And you should be searching scholarly databases at your library.

Not quite. Men went off to the front to die, to save the women and children of the country - something women refused to do.

After the war, they adopted feminism to give them the justification to hate men, and to hold onto the well-paid jobs. (Have you ever seen a feminist demanding that half the garbage collectors be women?)

Upon seeing the 'joys' of feminism, many WW II vets in the 1970s said, "We fought the enemy ... for this?"
