One day randomly after turning on my laptop it froze up after about a minute. So I booted safe mode and started running programs and it worked fine. Tried it again and froze after a couple minutes. Turned it off and later turned it on unplugged and it worked fine. So I tried plugging it in after using it for a couple hours and it froze a minute after plugging it in. I have no idea why. Also, only when it's on the lowest power setting does it work unplugged.

Safe mode or unplugged (power saver mode) works perfectly, plugged in or unplugged in high performance does not.

I can't figure this out.

Yes, go back to the store, buy Windows XP Pro, and eradicate the junk that has infected your computer.

Hi. Sounds like a bad (failed) power adapter.
