Okay, the XL7 is the better in just about every way then the Grand Vitara for only about $2000 more. The XL7 has a modern and efficient 3.6L V6 with 250 HP/Torque (so plenty of power), while the Grand Vitara has an outdated 2.7L V6 with only 185 HP/Torque. And even though it's 400 lb's heavier and has much more power/speed the XL7 only loses 1 mpg overall and puts out less smog/pollution. The XL7 is much more roomy and can seat 7, while the Grand Vitara can only seat 5. I can find a single reason not to go with the superior XL7, unless you simply find it too big for you. I notice that often times these small SUV's are so close in price to their mid-size version that I could never go with a Tucson when a much nicer Santa Fe is only a couple grand more and just as efficient. I think the XL7 like the Hyundai Santa Fe and new Toyota Rav4 are the best value and quality mid-size SUV's on the market, you can't go wrong with any of those 3.

RE:
What car is better a suzuki XL7 or a Suzuki Grand Vitara?
For the Suzucki XL7 could I still get it pretty cheap even though I wanted a navagation system and leather? How is the power in it, like when you turn a corner can you feel the car speeding up quickly? Tell me EVERYTHING about the XL7.

Suzuki XL7
Power: 252hp @6500rpm
Torque: 243ft/lb@2300rpm
0-60 in 7.9sec
Top speed:115mph
Price: Between $21,000- $31,500 (depending on package, options, and discounts)
Braking is stable and brake pedal needs little effort to stop. There is a little understeer, yet can handle good for a SUV. The acceleration may be quick for a 7-seater SUV, even if you may not feel it accelerate, you will hear it accelerating when pushed hard.
Suzuki Grand Vitara
Power: 185hp@6000rpm
Torque: 184ft/lb@4500rpm
0-60 in 9 seconds
Top Speed: 110mph
Price: Between $17,500-$30,500 (depending on package, options, and discounts)
Compared to the XL7, the Grand Vitara is slower, but the Handling is about the same. Braking is the same compared to the XL7, but it does nose dive a pinch in hard braking

The 07 and newer XL7 is a complete redesign based of the GM Theta platform ( Saturn Vue/Pontiac Equiniox/etc.) It is Suzuki's top of the line with all the xtras offered such as Nav/Blutooth/backup camera/etc. Quality has been good. Not recommended for off road. All Wheel Drive does make it a good handling vehicle in icy conditions though.
06 and newer Grand Vitara is pure Japanese Suzuki with typical never breaks Japanese quality. It is more of a true SUV that can handle off road pretty good.
I have nothing bad to say about either of them.

I currently own a newer Grand Vitara, but I have test driven the SX4 Crossover as well and I was hardpressed for a decision. I like the SX4 a lot and for your purposes it will probably be a better choice. I chose the GV because I need more room to haul stuff, but the SX4 was definately a possibility. The GV has done a good job off road and in unplowed snow on trails, the SX4 should be great in the snow as well. I would love to have both.
