I would like to become a firefighter and I have a felony on my record that is 8 years old. I am 27 years old and it happened when I was 19 or 20. I have since moved on in my life but this felony charge prevents me from getting alot of jobs that I would really like. I have even been to college and graduated, but this elony seems to haunt me everywhere I go. It is a bank robbery charge. Does anyone out here know the correct answer?

Yikes. Bank robbery is a bad one. A federal crime, which makes it really tough to have expunged (removed from your record).

But that's about your only chance. Contact an attorney in your area to find out how to petition for expungement.

Depending on the class and the type of punishment, you can probably have it expunged. It sorta depends what you mean by bank robbery.... that can be anything from electronic fraud, check kiting, to , well umm, gun pointed at the teller. If you were incarcerated, chances are slimmer, but in any case, as long as a firearm was not involved, you can get an expungement, eventually.

Nope...Gonna haunt you forever. Robbery isn't one of the crimes you can commit and it's forgiven, even 8 years later. Not in public service anyway

you're a felon, maximum jobs do no longer care the way you grew to alter into one, your pastime listings are as small as a homeless guy. there at the instant are not the variety of issues as recovered felons to the government. my existence all began purely like yours, im no longer a felon yet do have theft fees, and its injury my destiny, while i became into youthful i on no account dreamed that issues like this would carry somebody back, i certainly wish there became right into a extra helpful threat to extra helpful your self and not be judged by making use of your previous. i will that while you're off papers, so ought to your record. yet i in basic terms now can attempt and forestall my infants to attain something with the regulation, continues to be with you for existence. whether it became into in basic terms a mistake. whether you have been purely having a O of weed on your pocket, to smoke to your self. im confident they gets you for merchandising, and possession, a threat unfastened extreme, gets became right into a bad concern, i hate the regulation, i hate how everybody is on no account giving a real start up in existence after a shrink to rubble.

yeah, it seems horribly unfair but that's the way things are. however, different municipalities have different rules. it would never hurt to ask. recently in dallas, the dalas police began not ruling out applicants with one time misdenenour drug convictions.

another option you might consider is talking to an attorney about a possible pardon. GL to you.
