what its theatre origin?why is theatre needed today?

Ok. Theatre started with the greeks i believe. It was a source of entertainment, and still is today. Theatre is a real art, and is of course is needed today. It takes a lot of skill to be in the theatre business. When you're onstage, you don't have "takes" like you do in movies, you have one chance! Theatre is needed as live entertainment and unfortunatly, a lot of people don't care about the live stuff as much. They'd rather go to the movies. But a lot of the movies out today are based on plays or musicals. So without that, those movies wouldn't even exist. =)

The essential elements of theatre are performer, performance and audience. Theatre is further defined by many people to their own understanding. As soon as a man stood up in front of other to mimic an animal hunt the theatre was born.
It is highly likely this preceeded sophisticated speech.
With communication becoming more and more abstract with the media and internet, basic human communication is more important than ever.

Sorry but you have to love Shakespeare and the plays that he wrote to understand the deep need for theatre in today's world. Besides, most of the actors on the television have acted on a stage and some have done Shakespeare. If you can get passed the old time speaking in the plays, they are the most wonderful stories.

Theatre is art at its finest. We need it to remind us of times long gone. Much of what is presented as theatre today really is not. Instead, they are stage plays, which amount to nothing more than a sitcom before a live audience.

Ahhh the theater. That event as ancient as man and as mysterious as the nature man once sought to imitate or appease in it's earliest form. Not moving pictures... but life... Life distilled to a pure, clean, ring of truth. Never forget that. It is the heritage of the theater.

in my theory class, theatre was defined as basically, one person consciously performing while someone else watches- meaning that the person performing has to be aware that they're being watched.
