Another 'problematic' attack on Mike Huckabee.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1207/7401.html

Headline:
"Huck's gift-givers ended up in state posts"

Subtext:
"Most of the posts Huckabee’s benefactors landed were on unpaid boards and commissions. Not all of the gifts came before the appointments — several came from old friends and there’s no clear evidence of any quid pro quo."

Unpaid posts? Not exactly sinister here... ;)

Question: Despite two weeks of attacks, Huckabee's numbers have only steadily increased. So the question is....

Are the attacks helping him in some way? Have the focus on ridiculous issues (AIDS, rapist, 'bribes') rather than more problematic concerns (taxes), only made Huckabee look better?

Or is he rising despite these attacks(Poor performance from competition)?

Please no "I hate Huck" or "I love Huck." Looking for an analysis on a debatable issue. Will report inappropriate responses.

I personally think his rising numbers are short-lived. His views on a woman's "place" as well as his personal shots against Romney are making him look like a pathetic, desperate little man. I used to like him until he started taking cheap shots.

I don't think the issues people are bringing up are really issues in themselves... they were so long ago, like Obama's drug use, etc. that people are probably willing to overlook them.

Also, ALL of the candidates are being "attacked" in one way or another.

huckabee keeps stepping in it. I dont think his numbers will hold. Now his campaign cant figure out whether he has a theology degree. He said he did and it qualifies him best for the war on terror because he understands the enemy (personally i dont know how having a bachelors in biblical studies provides insight into the muslim mind but thats beside the point). Then when questioned about whether he is as ignorant as he claims about mormons, his campaign claims he doesnt have a theology degree.

Seriously this isnt really something that would matter other than it talks about his character but either he has one or he doesnt. Its not rocket science. But to be claiming both when most convenient is akin to pandering.

Here is a problem. We live in a world where Truth is a very slippery thing. Huckabee is given an office of public trust and needs to show that office isn't in the hands of people who can pay him off. He didn't make the basic efforts to do that. It shows a lack of good judgment on his Part

Huckabee blew it, and badly, with his "take back the nation for Christ" nonsense. I do not want, nor do a lot of voters want, a man who wears his religion on his sleeve thusly, and so early in the campaign yet.

IMO, Huckabee has revealed himself for what he would be as POTUS, and I want no part of it.
