Trier will be a lot of fun I am sure. Make sure you see if they have a Christmas Markt in the city center. Most cities do.

Dress warm and dry and is cold there now. You will have much fun I am sure.

Try your best to learn as much German as you can even if it is just words and phrases, it will get you a lot further.

have fun!!

Dont forget to visit the dom cathedral. Its also the oldest city in germany. Since it is situated by the Mosel river, I suggest you try visit a small winery. The two major wine growing areas are by the Rhine and Mosel rivers. Personally, I prefer mosel wines. Bring lots of memory for your camera\ video cam. The scenery will leave you breathless. I was born there in a little town of Goslar in the Hartz mountains. In 1967, as Canada was calibrating its centenial, Goslar; an old emperors place, celibrated its millenium! A 1,000 yrs old!

Judging via your call i might say it ought to possibly be Butzbach, an American militia community (blended with German) approximately 50 Kilometers north of Frankfurt. Or it must be Geissen, no longer too a techniques east of Butzbach (it somewhat is a incredibly massive city. it could additionally be Lich, only south east of Geissen, it somewhat is the place my sister grew to become into born as quickly as we've been stationed and lived in Butzbach.

I've been to Trier several times. A great little town. It's also not far from Metz, France, or Luxembourg; I'd recommend those, too, if you have the time. There are other German towns/cities relatively near to Trier that I can recommend, too. Enjoy your visit!

Absolutely fantastic.

I took a Polaroid picture under the Coliseum there that appears to have ghosts in it. So real I had to go back down just to look again.

This city is worth staying at least 2 weeks.

Trier is awsome. It even was the capital of the western part of the Roman Empire for a few years. Don´t miss the local wines!!!
