Get to a doctor. 3-4 weeks is not your average cold. Either you've got an infection or there's something wacky going on with your immune system.

Peppermint drops are a natural way to soothe irritated throats and they help to get rid of that "sick" taste in your mouth, too. Hot tea and honey, not sugar or lemon, might help, if you like tea. Coffe won't work in this situation. A steamy bath or shower can help soothe the airway. Hope you feel better. These are not cures but can make the situation more tolerable until it passes through your system. Oh yeah, water is a good thing even if it makes you nauseous. It helps to flush out the virus when you go to the bathroom and it keeps you hydrated. And that always helps to get rid of an illness.

Try ZINC cough drops. There is a common brand called Cold Ease but the generic are the same thing, cheaper, and usually right next to the brand name in the store.
Next, get a nasal rinse (not a spray, but a rinse) at the store. They are usually made with saline. It sounds gross (and its uncomfortable for a second) but it basically flushes your sinuses (HUGE help if there is any infection in there). You'll be amazed at the difference it makes.
And drink tons of water. If it feels like its moving into your lungs, go to the doc for antibiotics. I had the same crud for almost 5 weeks before I did all of this. Worked like a charm.

3-4 weeks is too long to ignore this. You should see your doctor. Clearly, you need some type of medication to help you along. Get help before it turns into pneumonia. Water will make you nauseous. Drink ginger ale or cranberry juice instead.

I think it sounds like allergies. Try gargling with salt water, and a saline wash - it really works!!! I use this with my son when his allergies are bothering him. Also, an over-the-counter antihistimine should work - like Benadryl or Claritin. If you want to go homeopathic - use a combination of Echinacea and Goldenseal to thin the mucous secretions - good luck!

Oil of Oregano - buy it at the health food store. Tastes strong and spicey, however it DOES work - my whole family uses it.
It does not matter if the infection is viral or bacterial.
Two to three drops every 2 hours, while you are awake, will help considerably.
All the best!!!

You must go to a doctor. My advise would be to take warm water, put some salt in it and gargle the water. It soothes your throat and maybe it can even kill some bacteria.

since a virus can last 3-21 days, it's time to see a doctor and rule out a bacterial infection.
