Because totalitarian governments are typically supported by liberals (who do not own guns). In addition, liberals do not do well in the face of truth. Typical liberal dogma is based on emotions, consensus science and conspiracy theories... not facts.

Historically dictators have gained power in once-free countries though nationalization efforts (e.g. Venezuela of today).

Nationalization of private industry is supported by liberals.

To prevent a militia from taking over Controlling the press prevents propaganda and unpopular information from spreading and guns are necessary for revolts.

Now I`m for the 2nd amendment but I don`t the liberals are looking for the above mentioned agenda, they just want less guns in the streets. And as far as the press- I think that`s a different group- probably the families with "sensitive ears".

Do distrust those who always talk about "New World Order". Surprisingly the NRA does so occasionally and I want to own a pistol to protect my family but I don`t want a new world order.

In a capitalist system, it appears any media company would want to "control" the media, it is in the nature of capitalism.
Funny how capitalism is now a problem, in reference to the media not being right-wing controlled.
It would be a better idea to distrust people who are always the victim of some perceived persecution, because they don't always get their way, and are forever claiming that there is some kind of "war" on their beliefs.
Those are the people that are attempting to control the people through their belief structure and emotions that are biased in support of their faith.

As far as "wanting to take away our guns", its not going to happen. And if the government did want to oppress us, our guns aren't going to stand a chance against what the government owns. think about that as you email your congressman and ask them to support more military spending.

No offense yet i individually do no longer prefer to get interior of palms attain of a felon with a knife, to guard myself, a gun is the only thank you to fulfill this requirement. in case you think of banning weapons reduces violence, clarify murders, riots, hostage takings that happen in prisons. those self same human beings we lock up and have no get entry to to weapons will, whilst on the streets make the same weapons and use the same methods, if weapons have been banned, have faith me. If the government bans weapons then it somewhat is government administration. only like telling you which you will no longer park especially areas of the line and proscribing your velocity. the version is that Constitutionally, they are able to workout judgment especially areas and not in others.

Is this a joke question? No one can do this in the US - the Constitution is the supreme law of the land and can not/will not be overthrown and expressly denies any laws that can do either of these things. If you are so unhappy with being in the US - get out! No one will miss you!
